Afghanistan accuses Pakistani intelligence of the terrorist attack against the Indian embassy

with 3 comments

A suicide bomb attack on the Indian Embassy in the Afghan capital bore all the hallmarks of a foreign intelligence agency, Afghanistan’s presidential spokesman said on Tuesday in a likely reference to Pakistan.:

Afghanistan has accused Pakistani agents of being behind the April assassination attempt against President Hamid Karzai, a mass jail break in Kandahar last month and a string of other attacks.

Karzai threatened last month to send troops across the border to attack militants there if Pakistan did not take action.

Talibans have denied they had any kind of responsibility in the attack in which 30 people were killed, among them a military attaché from the embassy and a diplomat.

Yesterday, Pakistan rejected those accusations.

The situation is worsened as time goes by: Mr. Rashid, 59, has just published his fourth book, “Descent into Chaos, The United States and the Failure of Nation Building in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asia,” a caustic review of the mistakes by the Bush administration in tackling Islamic militancy.

The Bush administration, he said, was too gentle with Pakistan’s president, Pervez Musharraf, after he pledged to support the antiterrorism campaign after 9/11. “The Americans never said strongly enough that Pakistan had to stop supporting the Taliban — that was because Musharraf was giving them the Al Qaeda types,” capturing a few top Qaeda operatives and handing them over to the United States. Mr. Bush should have insisted that Musharraf quash the Taliban too, he said.

(…)The Pakistani Army and Pakistan’s powerful Inter-Services Intelligence agency protected the Afghan Taliban in Quetta, the provincial capital of Baluchistan, as “a strategic asset” for use in the future as a buffer against India, he said.

English-Dutch Ian Buruma’s conference in Spain

with 2 comments

Anglo-Dutch writer Ian Buruman has stated that there is no risk that the Muslim impose their religion in Europe, once they have entered it. But he has cautioned about an “Islamic revolution” in the Western countries made by immigrants who feel alienated and who are much more extremists.

During the conference “Multiculturalism’s tiranny”, he has supported Western democracies to let Islamist ideas be expressed freely, as other ideologies are tolerated under the freedom of expression. To confront the perils derived from Islamism, he has maintained that the “language of culture confrontation should be abandoned” and that “Western democracies should seek the support of the more moderate Muslim, who can contribute to stop radicalization.

He also maintains that the “fundamentalism” is much more probable in the sons and grandsons of the immigrants who arrived in Europe. The latter are much more interested in politics and feel they are somewhat excluded from Western society, but, at the same time, are not able to continue the traditions of their ancestors.

So must we consider as right, lawful and acceptable, statements which can be considered as racist, homophobe, illegal, menacing, … or which are simply trying to subvert the Constitution and to impose Sharia Law, kill the unbelievers… just because what? They are Muslims? This is not saying “I don’t like your God”, it’s saying “I’m killing you because you don’t believe in my God”. This is not saying “I respect/tollerate -not the same- your beliefs”, it’s saying “non-believers are apes and pigs and so inferior”.

Can’t understand that logic. What would happen if a white Christian person would have said that? Will he consider that person an “alienated one” who should be helped?

Spain: immigrants’ vote

without comments

Spanish Socialists are going to grant immigrants the right to vote on the next local elections. This measure will afect to a million and a half immigrants approx., producing effects specially in great cities as Madrid and Barcelona.

There is a doubt about the real sign of this vote, as there are no real studies about the subject.

The man behind this decision is 32-year-old Mohammed Azahaf. He was born in Madrid of Moroccan parents. Since 4 years ago, he has been one of the main supporters of the immigrant vote for local elections. After succeeding in obtaining the approval of the Socialists, now the “challenge is to obtain a political consensus regarding 2011 local elections”.

Jihad in China

Support the ayatollahs in their quest for nuclear bomb peaceful energy and you get “holy war in China”:

Chinese police have shot dead five alleged Muslim militants in the north-western region of Xinjiang, reports state news agency Xinhua.

Uighur separatists in Xinjiang have waged a low-level campaign against Chinese rule for decades.

A police spokesman said that when officers surrounded the apartment, they found themselves facing 15 knife-wielding Uighurs shouting “sacrifice for Allah”, Xinhua said.

(…) The agency cited an unnamed police spokesman as saying the suspects had confessed that they had been trained to prosecute a “holy war” against Chinese Han people, and wanted to establish their own Uighur state.

A “subtle” transformation, don’t you think? They have evolved from “separatist” guerrillas to a Jihadi-racist guerrillas: they are waging “holy war” on Chinese Han people.

“The family was very stressed”

with one comment

This is what Shahid Malik of the Pakistani American Community of Atlanta has said about the honor killing of Sandela Kanwal by her own father, Chaudhry Rashad.

More:

When police arrived at the family’s home Sunday morning, Rashid told them simply, “My daughter is dead,” police said Monday. When police asked him how Rashid knew she was dead, Rashid reportedly said nothing and hung his head.

Naturally, she was dead after being strangled.

Detecting bombs with laser guns

without comments

This is going to be possible soon:

While bombs get more complicated, identifying them is still pretty simple: someone, or increasingly something, has to get close to it.

Soon bomb squads could safely tell if a suspicious package is an explosive, and from up to 100 meters (328 feet) away, using a laser system developed by researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.

(…)The system is based on on a series of quantum cascade, solid state lasers. Each laser sends out a pulse of light in specific infrared frequencies.

When the lasers hit an object coated with residue from explosives, the light scatters. Some of it bounces back and is picked up by quartz crystals, which act like tuning forks, changing the electromagnetic waves into acoustic waves.

By determining which quartz crystals are activated, and running that specific activation signature through a computer with the chemical signatures of known explosive agents, the system can determine which type of explosive was used.

Looks like it’s going to save a lot of lives.

Attacks in Turkey

with one comment

Three Germans have been abducted in Turkey by PKK, while they were climbing the Mount Ararat. All three are part of an expdition of 13 climbers, according to local authorities.

“The terrorists said they carried out this action because of the German government’s recent moves against PKK associations and sympathisers,” state-run Anatolian news agency reported.

There were unconfirmed reports that paramilitary troops were involved in an operation to rescue the kidnapped climbers, while the other members of the group were taken to the nearest town.

(…) The PKK, which is seeking autonomy for Kurds in south-eastern Turkey, is designated as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the US and EU.

More than 30,000 people have been killed since the group began its armed campaign in 1984.

And three Turkish policemen have been killed and two others injured after assailants opened fire in front of the US consulate in Istanbul. A US embassy spokeswoman in Ankara said there were no reports of casualties among American consulate employees.

Jihad: the founding texts of Islam face to face with modern world

without comments

From ExtremeCentre (the book is in French but it’s interesting to consider its contents anyway):

The book — Le Jihâd: les textes fondateurs de l’Islam face à la modernité — makes a perfect symbiosis between an strictly academic work, of which it maintains accurate arguments, serious sources and the control of quality, and a book which can be read by anyone, as …., of clear ideas and the present elements are chosen pertinently.

It shows, then the “main role of Jihad in the birth and development of Islam, regarded both as a religion and as a civilization” and lightens also the influence of this element of Islamic religion in the Muslims who revisit today, in the XXIth century, the origins of their faith in those sacred texts.

(…) The appeasement policy that has prevails till today and which has done nothing but feeding the Munich complex of Westerners and the Islamic spirit of conquest, must be abandoned. A policy of firmness must be enforced, excluding all unilateral concessions, out of fear to displease the Muslim community in the West. Because the survival of the West depends on it.

Iran: using African endangered monkeys for “scientific experiments”

with one comment

Times via Barcepundit:

Hundreds of endangered monkeys are being taken from the African bush and sent to a “secretive” laboratory in Iran for scientific experiments.

An undercover inquiry by The Sunday Times has revealed that wild monkeys, which are banned from experiments in Britain, are being freely supplied in large numbers to laboratories in other parts of the world. All will undergo invasive and maybe painful experiments leading ultimately to their death.

[...] “Iran is very secretive,” said Manji, who has been exporting monkeys for 22 years. “They said it [the monkeys] was for ‘our country’, for vaccine. [They said] ‘We don’t buy vaccine from anywhere; we prepare our own vaccine’.

“But I think they use it for something else. You know why? Because they don’t go on kilos. Iran wants [monkeys weighing] 1.5kg to 2.5kg, [but] 1.5kg for vaccine is not possible.”

Meanwhile Iran has moved ballistic missiles into launch positions, with Israel’s Dimona nuclear plant among possible targets. After Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced that its forces were carrying out a military drill involving “missile squads” and warned that the country would retaliate against any military strike by targeting Tel Aviv and U.S. warships in the Gulf, today Ahmadinejad has said that “there will be no war in the future“. While at the same time, Iran has tested the new version of Shahab-3 missile capable of reaching Israel.

To finish, read the story of the CIA’s spy infiltrated in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in PJM.

Iran remains the main sponsor of terrorism around the world. Iranian consulates, embassies, airlines, and shipping line offices are the main hub for terrorist activities. Money, arms, and explosives are transferred through these centers to fund terrorist groups and jihadists. Quds Force units of the Revolutionary Guards use the Iranian consulates as their command and control centers to plan and carry out assassinations, kidnappings, and terrorist activities. The mullahs even transferred money and arms in state visits using their high-ranking officials, knowing full well that because of diplomatic immunity they would not be subject to search during such visits. As I reported to the CIA, these activities were closely coordinated through Iran’s foreign ministry, the ministry of intelligence, and the Revolutionary Guards.

More violence against Copts in Egypt

without comments

This time the “reason” was that a Christian woman, forcibly converted to Islam has left her husband:

Two years ago, Dimiana Makram Hanna, a 23-year-old Christian woman in Egypt, was kidnapped, forcibly converted to Islam, and compelled to marry a Muslim. She finally had enough of his abusive behaviour and ran away last month. Local Muslims went on an anti-Christian rampage, destroying businesses and homes, and demanded the poor woman’s return. Coptic Christians were beaten in the streets, and twenty Christian-owned shops and the village church were vandalised.

The mob of 4000 Muslims shouted “Kill the infidels” as they ran amok. Only 15 rioters were arrested, 11 of whom were quickly released by prosecutors.

It is common knowledge that Dimiana had fled a husband she did not wish to live with. She stayed away for some two days then, hearing of the riots in her village and the great harm inflicted upon the Copts, and that her uncles had been questioned by the police, she handed herself in on Friday evening.
