Hezbollah using Lebanon’s period of calm to rearm
Iran is halfway to a nuclear bomb, and Hezbollah, Hamas and Syria are using the status-quo to significantly rearm, the head of the Israeli military intelligence research division said, according to media reports.
This is surprising (no, not the least…)… As these other news aren’t either:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi are among several Arab leaders considered enemies of Al-Qaeda, according to a new video released by the terror network.
Their names are included on a list of enemies in the video released by Al-Qaeda’s production arm, al-Sahab, on the seventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The old war between Sunni and Shiite Muslims continues…
Another Palestinian terrorist uses a vehicle… again
An Arab resident of east Jerusalem rammed his vehicle into a group of soldiers at a central Jerusalem thoroughfare late Monday night, wounding fifteen people, before being shot dead by an off-duty IDF officer, police and rescue officials said.
It was the third such attack in the city in as many months.
The attack took place at the city’s Kikar Tzahal near Jaffa Gate. Two of the casualties were in moderate condition, the rest were lightly hurt.
(…) The assailant, who was driving a BMW, crashed into a group of off-duty soldiers on the sidewalk, where his car came to a grinding halt.
Jerusalem police chief Aharon Franco said that the attacker was shot dead “within seconds” by an off-duty army man who was touring the city with his unit.

Kidnappers seize foreign tourists in Egypt
Masked kidnappers have seized 19 hostages including Western tourists on safari in a remote desert area of Egypt near the Sudanese and Libyan borders, and whisked them out of the country, Egyptian officials said on Monday.
The kidnapping was the first of its kind in Egypt in living memory, although Islamic militants have hit the country’s tourist industry in recent decades through bomb and shooting attacks that have killed hundreds.
“They have been kidnapped and they have been moved outside the Egyptian borders by four criminals who have kidnapped them,” Tourism Minister Zoheir Garrana told Reuters. “This is a gang act (by) masked men.”
Security sources said the kidnappers were asking for 6 million euros ($8.8 million) to free the hostages, identified as five Italians, five Germans, a Romanian and eight Egyptians. They said there was no sign militant Islamists were involved.

A top Egyptian diplomat announced first all foreign tourists in Egypt had been freed. Italian Foreign Ministry has denied that reports. After that, Egypt has withdrawn the first statement and has announced that talks with kidnappers are ongoing. Looks like they are been held in Sudan.
Last news on Honor Killings
90 WOMEN DIE TO SATISFY ISLAMIC HONOR « CTD Weblog: Ninety women have died horribly in Pakistan in just the first quarter of 2008 to satisfy the Islamic concept of family honor. When will Western Societies, human rights groups and the general public understand that under Sharia law which some Western societies such as Great Britain are considering allowing Muslims to implement. Women are returned to to the dark ages and loose rights such as custody of children, freedom of movement, expression etc.
Others survive but pay a terrible price for not fulfilling family’s honor.

From Germany: Honor violence on the roads:
A 21-year old German-Turkish woman who caused a fatal accident between Emmerich and Kleve in which two Dutch motorcyclists were killed had been chased by her brother.
According to German newspaper Rheinische Post the young Turkish driver from Kleve wanted to break with her family. Her brother started chasing her when she left home for Hamburg. Both cars chased each other at speeds about 140 km/h over the provincial road between Emmerich and Kleve, where the speed limit is 70 km/h. The chase came to dangerous overtaking maneuvers.

Barack Obama’s Islamist ties to Rashid Khalidi, Edward Said and Ali Abunimah (I)
Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama is currently hiding his anti-Israel views in order to get elected, according to a well-known anti-Israel activist. The activist, Ali Abunimah, claimed to know Obama well and to have met him on numerous occasions at pro-Palestinian events in Chicago.
In an article he penned for the anti-Israeli website Electronic Intifada, Abunimah wrote:
“The last time I spoke to Obama was in the winter of 2004 at a gathering in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. He was in the midst of a primary campaign to secure the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate seat he now occupies. But at that time polls showed him trailing.
“As he came in from the cold and took off his coat, I went up to greet him. He responded warmly, and volunteered, ‘Hey, I’m sorry I haven’t said more about Palestine right now, but we are in a tough primary race. I’m hoping when things calm down I can be more up front.’ He referred to my activism, including columns I was contributing to the The Chicago Tribune critical of Israeli and US policy [and said:] ‘Keep up the good work!’”
Barack, Michelle, Edward and Mariam
Abunimah’s report included a photo of Obama with his wife Michelle seated at a table with virulently anti-Israeli Professor Edward Said and his wife Mariam, in what Abunimah said was a May 1998 Arab community event in Chicago at which Said gave the keynote speech.
In an interview earlier this year for the leftist radio show “Democracy Now!,” a daily TV and radio news program hosted by Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez, Abunimah said he knew Obama for many years as his state senator “when he used to attend events in the Palestinian community in Chicago all the time.”
“I remember personally introducing him onstage in 1999, when we had a major community fundraiser for the community center in Deheisha refugee camp in the occupied West Bank,” he recounted. “And that’s just one example of how Barack Obama used to be very comfortable speaking up for and being associated with Palestinian rights and opposing the Israeli occupation.
The funny thing is how this blog post begins:
Barack Obama’s connection to radical Islamists such as Rashid Khalidi and Ali Abunimah have received scant media attention.
Of course, publicity against Obama always gets scant media attention... Here is another thing it’s not going to get a lot of media attention… How many media attention would that have IF McCain or Palin would have done it, wouldn’t it?
Al-Qaida in North Africa issues new threats
The leader of al-Qaida in North Africa has called for Muslims to unite in holy war against the region’s governments and issued new threats against Western targets, including France, Spain and the United States.
The message decried a “new colonial offensive” by the West in North Africa and warned Muslims not to back the local “regimes of apostasy and treason.” It was signed by Abu Musab Abdul Wadud, the pseudonym used by Abdelmalek Droukdel, the leader of al-Qaida’s North African offshoot.
France is Algeria’s former colonial ruler and Droukdel warned Algerian officials it would be a mistake if they sought refuge there as the confrontation with al-Qaida increases, apparently implying French territory could also be targeted. He said France will not be a safe haven “because it will be occupied with its (own) security.”
The authenticity of the message could not be independently verified. The 28-minute audiotape was issued Sunday along with video of heavily armed militants on Web sites frequently used by Islamist extremists. It was confirmed Monday by the U.S.-based SITE intelligence group, which monitors militant messages.
Al-Qaida in North Africa issues new threats – Yahoo! News. More commentary on JW:
“This is because judgement day is close and punishment is imminent. And whoever among the treacherous apostates thinks that France is in a position to ensure its safety, we tell them they are wrong, because France will not be in a position to do it, and will be worried for its safety.”
In the audio message, entitled “Message to our nation in the Islamic Maghreb”, Droukedel reminds his listeners about Spain and Morocco’s territorial dispute over the enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla.
“Dear nation, it is not conceivable for any Muslim that loves Islam to speak of the Maghreb without remembering Ceuta and Melilla, occupied by Spain without remembering the injustice suffered by our nation,” said Droukedel.
“The complicity between Spain and international organisations such as the Arab League, the Islamic Conference and the United Nations is clear.”
Well, that last statement is false: Arab League has stated in the past their “full support” for Morocco to reclaim the sovereignty over Ceuta and Melilla, something which could have been promised (at least, it looks like he promised to speak about it) by Mr Zapatero before winning past elections. So this Droukedelis not only a terrorist, he is also a liar… and certainly merits this kind of statement:
We must remember that just now Mauritania is seeking international cooperation against AQIM, after it claimed the kidnapping and previous ambush of several Mauritanian soldiers. Last night, the decapitated bodies of the 12 kidnapped soldiers were found in the desert outside a northern town. Mauritania has declared three days of mourning following the horrible discovery.
Before that, AlQaeda menaced the country on Dec 29th for its support to the Paris-Dakar rally. Also, Al Qaeda gunmen attacked the Israeli embassy in February, highlighting Mauritania’s status as one of the few Arab countries with diplomatic ties to the Jewish state. As a result, the resources from tourism of the country have plummeted.

In a commentary in the Middle East Times, Olivier Guitta noted that in Mauritania, American efforts to promote democracy are now at odds with its goal of rolling back Islamic terrorism. Mr. Guitta argued that the Mauritanian military ousted the country’s president, Sheikh Sidi Ould Abdallahi, in part because they saw him as too soft on Islamic terrorists. He wrote that many Mauritanians blamed Abdallahi for allowing the country’s security situation to deteriorate from “bad to worse.”

Moroccan Secret Service Recruits Dutch MPs’
MPs and local council members of Moroccan origin are routinely approached by the Moroccan secret service to defend the interests of Morocco. So says Fouad el Haji, a Labour (PvdA) council member in Rotterdam. The Lower House is shocked and has demanded an explanation from the cabinet.
El Haji said on n [sic] TV programme Pauw&Witteman that Moroccan-Dutch MPs, local politicians, entrepreneurs and police officers are enticed by the Moroccan secret service to serve the interests of Morocco. Rabat wants to bind them to it financially, culturally and politically, he stated.
El Haji suggested that within the PvdA, Socialist Party (SP) and leftwing Greens (GroenLinks), there are polticians who have taken up the offer and thus work for the secret service. He suggested one or several MPs or ex-MPs are among them. But he declined to name any names.

This is truly worrying. Of course, it is going to be a little difficult to prove… but the accusation is so grave, it must be investigated and discovered if this man is saying the truth and who are actually the culprits.
