Saudi Arabia: ban on selling cats and dogs and on walking them in public
Idiot news of the month, surely.
You would say that Saudi Arabia has a lot of problems, but you would never consider dogs and cats and being one of them. Well, unluckily for those pets, Saudi Arabia considers them as a “moral danger” and as such, a ban has been issued on selling cats and pets or walking them in public in the Saudi capital.
What “moral danger” would you say there is in a dog or a cat? Because men are using them as a means of making passes at women. Othman al-Othman, head of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in Riyadh, known as the Muttawa (you know, the ones who let 15 teenagers burn because they weren’t wearing the veil…) said the commission was implementing a decision taken a month ago by the acting governor of the capital, Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz, adding that it follows an old edict issued by the supreme council of Saudi scholars.
