Anti-Israeli Censorship in Spain:  El Pais Closes “Stop Islamisation” Blog

with 2 comments

The issue at hand is the closure of the “Stop Islamisation” blog at the El Pais online community after the blog accepted a prize for showing “Solidarity with Israel.” It is an act of censorship which I regard as wholly unwarranted, given that there was no hateful speech, incitement to immoral conduct, or what could in any way be construed as a violation of the norms of conduct El Pais posts on its community site. No; this was an act of silencing pro-Israeli speech within Spain and on the web. That is an outrage.

By way of a personal note I wish to add, the “Stop Islamisation” movement in Europe represents a multi-national effort to oppose actions among Muslims residing on the continent to take advantage of the tolerant attitudes of a multi-cultural Europe to implement Sharia law within their communities, which frequently results in gross and overt violations of national law, constitutional rights, and what can only be described as human dignity. Just check out the Google search returns on “Stop Islamisation” if you want an idea as to the extent of this popular response among Europeans. It is widely-expressed speech that deserves its place within the popular consciousness.

Germany lists Holocaust victims

leave a comment »

The federal archive in Berlin has for the first time compiled a list of some 600,000 Jews who lived in Germany up to 1945 and were persecuted by the Nazis.

The names and addresses, which took four years to compile, will be made available to Holocaust groups to help people uncover the fate of relatives.

By the time of the Nazis’ defeat, only some 20,000 Jews remained in Germany, most in displaced persons camps.

Six million Jews across Europe were murdered under Adolf Hitler’s regime.

Archive officials from the Remembrance, Responsibility and Future Foundation said the list was not yet definitive and would require further work.

I forgot to post this, but it’s very important. Any measure which wants to show the world this really existed, is sooo right.

Never forget (whatever Ahmadinejackass says).

Iran protests Belusconi’s words about Ahmadinejad

leave a comment »

Iran has oficially protested the comments of the Council’s President, Silvio Berlusconi, who has compared Berlusconi to Adolf Hitler in the course of a meeting in Paris with the Jewish organization Keren Hayesod, defining him as “inappropriate of the Italian people and of its rich culture”. The protest of Teheran’s Government has been presented to the number 2 of the Italian embassy in Iran, Alessandro Monti, who has been summoned by the Iranian Foreign Minister.
«Berlusconi was referring himself to the statements from Iranian counterpart who has doubted about proved historical events, such as the Holocaust and the existence of the State of Israel”, has precised this afternoon the Farnesina. “Italy hopes that Iran, as the heir of a millenary culture, adopts a constructive political-diplomatic approach and assumes a more responsible role in the international stage with the respect towards human dignity and the right to exist of all nations and cultures”.

Anti-Semitic graffiti prompts Sarkozy’s son to take legal action

with one comment

French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s son Jean Sarkozy has taken legal action over anti-Semitic graffiti in the Paris suburb where he is a local councilor, the website of the daily Le Parisien said on Thursday.

The website said Jean Sarkozy had seen the words “Sarkozy, thieving jews” sprayed on the wall of a court building in Neuilly-sur-Seine and had filed a complaint with local police. It said the same tag was sprayed in three other locations.

The complaint follows a controversy over suggestions in a satirical magazine that Jean Sarkozy, 21, was preparing to convert to Judaism following his engagement to a member of the Jewish family that controls electronics retailer Darty.

The comments, in the magazine Charlie Hebdo, led to the sacking of the columnist responsible and a bitter spat in the media among French intellectuals and left-wing politicians over anti-Semitism and freedom of speech.

Jean Sarkozy became engaged in June to Jessica Sebaoun-Darty, whose family owns one of France’s biggest electronics retailers. He has denied he is planning to convert to Judaism.

Anti-Semitic incidents continue

leave a comment »

There was a 9% rise in anti-Semitic incidents in the UK in the first half of 2008 compared with the same period last year, a charity has reported.

There were 266 incidents up to June, compared with 244 last year, according to the Community Security Trust (CST).

Some 166 were incidents of abusive behaviour, including verbal abuse, hate mail and anti-Semitic graffiti.

CST admitted that improved contact with smaller Jewish communities “goes some way to explaining the overall rise”.

Incidents involving Jewish students or academics and at colleges rose 88%, from 26 to 49.

Durban II: anti-Western and anti-Semitic feelings à la carte

with 2 comments

The Great Pumkpin:

Seven years ago, the United Nations held a conference on racism in Durban, South Africa to address what some saw as growing trends in hate speech and discrimination. Lofty ideals aside, the conference quickly collapsed into an anti-American, anti-Israeli spectacle. As then-Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat delivered rants on the conspiratorial and racist goals of Israel, others handed out flyers celebrating Adolf Hitler. Having had enough, the United States rightly walked out in protest.

Today, the United Nations is gearing up for a Durban follow-up set for 2009. Like the first conference, “Durban II” would be funded through the regular U.N. budget, 22 percent of which comes from the American taxpayer. In a symbolic gesture, the United States withheld equivalent funds from the U.N. budget, and voted against its final passage.

Regardless, Durban II will proceed, and the prospects for it taking a 180-degree turn are not good. Like the first Durban conference, some of the worst human-rights violators will serve on Durban II’s panel. Participating members were selected by the gravely disappointing U.N. Commission on Human Rights – the same commission that has passed light condemnations of the regimes in Burma and Sudan. Its passion is democratic Israel, which has been condemned 15 times over the past two years.

At last! Sudanese President charged!!

with one comment

Looks like Al-Bashir’s blackmail has not produced the results he wanted:

Luis Moreno-Ocampo on Monday urged a three-judge panel to issue an arrest warrant for President Omar Hassan al-Bashir to prevent the deaths of about 2.5 million people forced from their homes in the war-torn region of Darfur and who are still under attack from government-backed Janjaweed militia.

The five charges against al-Bashir include masterminding attempts to wipe out African tribes in the war-torn region with a campaign of murder, rape and deportation.

Meanwhile, Iran is insisting it’s not Al-Bashir’s fault via Blogs of War:

Sudan’s vigilance about the Western and Zionist plots prompted the extra-regional powers to employ a variety of methods to isolate the Khartoum government.

So, let me guess it: Janjaweed were searching for Western/Zionist plots when they killed, raped and maimed black Christians and Animists during more than 10 years in Darfur. Ahmadinejad, you need some good books to read…
